Business planning can be a comparatively straightforward task, but it becomes much more of a challenge when there are lots of different stakeholders.
To make sure that everyone had the opportunity to develop the new three-year business plan, CGCoPE ran business planning seminars for stakeholders in January and March. This integrative approach was a great success, with 69 people from 34 different organisations taking part in the seminars. Participants worked on identifying and agreeing projects and priorities to take the Central Government Sector a step closer towards Advanced Procurement. A transformation 'map' was used to help this process, which shows what needs to be done for the Central Government Sector to get to the vision of Advanced Procurement. Looking at the final version of the map, it's difficult to believe it started out as a collection of post-its stuck on a big bit of brown paper.

Angela McKay, CGCoPE's Head of Collaborative Procurement, said, "It's really important that all the different organisations and people who will be affected by the plan had an opportunity to contribute and that everyone was able to consider its impact."
