13 November 2009
On 5 November 2009, a four year Framework Agreement was awarded for the provision of chilled drinking water to the following suppliers:
The Framework is available to the Scottish Government, its Agencies, Associated Departments, the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body and Non-Departmental Public Bodies.
Benefits of Framework Agreement
PHS Waterlogic
This contract will deliver on the Scottish Government Environmental Team's pledge to replace bottle chiller units with mains-fed units by the end of 2009. It takes 162g of oil and seven litres of water (including power plant cooling water) just to manufacture a one-litre bottle, creating over 100g of greenhouse gas emissions (10 balloons full of CO2) per empty bottle. Replacing bottle chillers with mains-fed units will take over 30,000 water bottles off Scottish roads each year.
Powwow Ltd
Recognising that some Collaborative Partners will continue to need bottles - as the associated works to plumb and power mains-fed units may not be possible in our oldest buildings - a contract for bottles, cooler units, consumables and associated services has been awarded to Powwow Ltd.
The Framework provides for a range of products to please the pocket and the eye, with options to rent or buy.
Both suppliers have agreed to work with CGCoPE and Collaborative Partners to calculate reductions in cost and carbon footprint in moving to mains-fed supplies, and to manage the transition from bottle use.
