At the end of last year, the CGCoPE Supervisory Board approved a strategy for the implementation of shared services for Category C (organisation specific) procurement across central government.
One of the key aims of the strategy is to support smaller organisations that have little or no procurement capability and improve the co-ordination of central government procurement. An effective shared service solution would support the implementation of the new strategy, 'Accelerated Delivery', endorsed by the Public Procurement Reform Board chaired by John Swinney, the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth.
A project has now been set up to take this forward and the consultation phase is underway. Central government organisations can participate in this initiative in a number of ways, whether it is contributing to a regional hub, or providing support to or receiving support from another body.
